Member Profile - Edward Clifton

Associate Justice Rhode Island Superior Court. The Hon. Edward Clifton has served with distinction as Associate Justice of the Rhode Island Superior Court since 1993. Justice Clifton is a member of the RWU Law Board of Advisors and is active in the mentoring of RWU law students through a program co-sponsored by the Thurgood Marshall Law Society. He received his J.D. from U.C.L.A.
Judge Clifton’s first judicial appointment was in 1993 as Associate Judge for Rhode Island District Court. He has served in the Superior Court since 1994. Judge Clifton serves on the Rhode Island Supreme Court’s permanent subcommittee on women and minorities. He is the recipient of the Wheeler School Distinguished Community Spirit Award. Judge Clifton also serves on the Board of Directors of Omni Development Corporation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide housing for low- and moderate-income families. Judge Clifton was elected to the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island Board of Directors in December 2001.
